Showcase: Thorgrim Grudgebearer

Heyhey, the biggest of the names in this army (apart from Bugman, I suppose) is Thorgrim Grudgebearer himself. And his Grudgebearer-bearers.

Showcase: Dwarf Clansmen & Ironbreakers

Just a small group today - four Clansmen and four Ironbreakers.

These actually served as the test figures for this army. Loads of armour on the iron Breakers; the clansmen are more restrained in that regard. Either way - lovely little chaps.

Hope you like them!

Showcase: Heroquest

To round it all off, here's the whole Heroquest set all finished and set up togeher for a nice group shot.

I just really like those figures. I mean it's hard not to; there's a whole generation of wargamers bascially imprinted on these lumps of plastic. Another nice thing about the set is that there isn't too many of any of the monsters, so it never gets monotonous. The largest number of any figures is the eight Orcs, and when it comes to Orcs ....  come on, when it comes to Orcs that's a number we're more than capable to cope with, right? ;-)

 Hope you like them!

Showcase: Heroquest Villains

What's a hero without a villain though? Just another undesirable troublemaker. So here's the two Big Bads of Heroquest, the surprisingly buff Chaos Warlock, and the Greater Daemon of Kh- no, wait. The Bloodthi-, no, sorry, entirely wrong there. It's the Gargoyle of course!

Remember when the Gargoyle was the biggest figure in your collection? Yeah, I think Space Marines are about that size now.

Showcase: Heroquest Heroes

Here's our heroes! It's hard to come up with postings for these without using the word 'iconic'. Especially with these chaps. I mean this guy is THE White Dwarf after all. And all the others as there too! Angry Elf, 5-Spaces-Stare Barbarian, and of course Fancy Wizard!

Can't say anything that hasn't been said about these figures, can I? So I'll just shut up. Hope you like the figures!

Showcase: Heroquest Chaos

Here come the Heavies of Heroquest, the Dealers of Damage, the Clenchers of Fists - it's the Chaos Warriors and Fimir. The former of course are classics and very familiar to anybody who ever dipped a toe into the sweet lake of Games Workshop. Fimir are just an incredibly interesting little bit of Warhammer history. Thanks to the Oldhammer people we have several interesting blog posts to read about what they were and what happened to them.

Either way, hope you like them! Stay tuned for more Heroquest figures.

Showcase: Heroquest Furniture

Alright, this one might take a bit of abstraction. Most of you will instnatly recognize the Heroquest furniture. And that they're lacking the cardboard parts. Oh well. All I can say is that in the not-too-distant future I'll post another set of Heroquest, and that that one will also have the cardboard components. Until then - enjoy these!

Collectors will be aware that one of the most important details about a HQ set is the candlesticks on the altar. Those were intact (apart for one of the flames, which got replaced with a bit of green stuff). The tail of the rat on the stretcher bank had gotten lost though, so I sculpted a new tail. It's not too common seeing a HQ rat with its tail in a lying down position!

Hope you like the bits here. Next time we're getting into the really good stuff.

Showcase: Heroquest Orcs & Goblins

Back to Heroquest! Starting with some of the most iconic Orcs and Goblins figures anyone could think of. Painting Heroquest is always good fun. These figures are clear, cast cleanly, and very much reduced to the important bits. Just brilliant stuff. :-D Hope you like them!

Showcase: Super Dungeon Expore Pt.26

More neat figures with lots of colour and character. Just the way we like it, don't we. Today we got the Hidden Shrine Mystic, Salt, and Hidden Shrine Master.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.25

Now for two of my favourite character models from the Super Dungeon universe - Hidden Shrine Infiltrator, and the great Arena Champion (from Super Dungeon Arena). I have no idea how the design came to be. It very much looks like she was built from a grab box of gimmicks. All that being said, the facial expression makes this figure for me. She looks proper dissatisfied. Love that mini.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.24

More Super Dungeon Explore. Here's the Forgotten King (from the Forgotten King expansion), as well as some really nice looking boars. I really dig the design on the king. Proper mysterious.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.23

Shrooms, man! Don't worry, it's just more Super Dungeon Explore figures. Love these angry little guys. The colour scheme isn't anything majorly inventive, but I like it. Hope you do as well!

Showcase: Orks Army Shots

Usually when I do a larger army in batches I rarely get the opportunity to see the whole thing all put together. In this case luckily I get to put up proper army shots, so I tried to make them look really nice.

Reet, that's the Stormboyz. Proper bigmob of 64 figures I painted, and here's some close-up shots of the indiviual figures' fronts and backs.

Showcase: Gretchins!

As the crowning finish of the Orks army (I'll drop some more detail shots of other units over the next weeks) I've done 63 Gretchins!

WIP. Ork Characters

Another Orks WIP. Characters. Big'uns. All of them really. Absurdly large. Anyway, from left to right: Weirdboy Warphead, Nob with Warbanner, Warboss in mega armour (quite obviously), Warboss in 'eavy armour, Weirdboy.

As with the prior updates, these chaps are mostly done. Bases and final touch-ups to be done. :) Hope y'all like them!

WIP: Big Meks with Shokk Attack Guns

Heyhey. It's lovely, lovely April. It's also weird, weird times, but let's focus on the loveliness of April (while keeping a distance, wearing masks and gloves).

I'm currently working on a bunch more Goff Orks and here we got three Big Meks - some bigger than others -with shokk attack guns. In the left we got the finecast version of the 2009 version of the unit, in the right we got the less good remake in plastic, and in the centre we got a humungously huge one based on the Forgeworld Big Mek. All of them converted, as always.

I really like the face on the big Big Mek. Almost Paul Bonner-ish in style. Is that a Kromlech part?

Anyway, these chaps are mostly done. All they need is a final fixing-up and the basing done properly. Hope you like them and stay safe.

GoModelling2020 cancelled

Due to general measures to combat the spread of COVID-19/Corona virus larger gatherings of people have been called off. Which means that Go Modelling 2020 is cancelled. I suppose we'll have to wait for next year then to meet at Vienna Army Museum!

Chat: Spring Shows 2020!

Just a quick note on the shows I'll attend in the near future: this weekend (14th/15th March) I'll be at GoModelling2020 at Vienna Army Museum. Last year was a great experience with loads of visitors and many, many eager painting participants.

I'll showcase miniatures, I'll have the painting workshop with me and some figures for you to paint and take home with you. So drop by if you're in the area!

The Saturday (21st March) thereafter I'll be at Austrian Salute at Gasthaus Leobendorf, doing the same. Always a great event.

At the end of April (25th April) I'll be at Tabletop Knights' Gaming Day again in Marktl, Germany.

Hope to see you at these events!

WIP: Ork Stormboyz

Heyhey, after a whole lot of Prussians and right before getting started on some more I'll see that I get a bit of a head start on some Orks. First: 64 Stormboyz. I split them into two batches of 32 to make it more manageable, here's a WIP shot of the second batch. Hope you like them and that I get them done swiftly and to a satisfying finish. :)

WIP: Ork Stormboyz

Heyhey, after a whole lot of Polish lancers and right before getting started on some more Harlequins I'll see that I get a bit of a head start on some Orks. First: 64 Stormboyz. Chat: Recap of 2019

Looking back on 2019, I have to say that it was a wholly nice year, unexciting as that may sound.
