Showcase: Canoness Veridyan

Right, she's done! Cool that I got to add another mini to my Sisters of Battle army for the first time in three years. :-) Hope you like her!

I'm off the Austrian Salute now. Expect a show report soon!

WIP: Canoness Veridyan #2

Here's the second WIP of the Canoness, and things are looking better already, don't you think? The face doesn't look quite as much of a mess any more, I did some painting on the sword blade, neatened up the metallics, did the hair and such. It's just cool to do that old colour scheme again. :-)

Showcase: Skaven Assassins

Another one from late last year which slipped into this year. It's a bunch of lovely Skaven Assassins for Mordheim (I still tend to type Mortheim, because for the German version they changed the name as "Mord" is "Murder" in German and that would have been a bit too much on the nose).

You'll notice that in this picture you can see two incarnations of Master Assassin Snikch. I like both to be honest. I tried to reflect the differences in style in the paintjob too, with a slightly dirtier look to classic Snikch and a more flashy, high-contrast kind of black and overall look on new Snikch. Made me think of Terry Pratchett's  musings on the black on assassins' cloaks and such.

Another thing: I never really painted Skaven before this project. Maybe the odd ratman here and there, but never a full army or even warband, so that was cool.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Group Shots!

Over the past few weeks I posted several updates on this big project I did late last year. Here are the final group shots. It was really a lot of work, but these two pictures alone make up for a lot of swearing during the process.

Looking at these the phrase 'THANK YOU FOR PLAYING' comes to mind.

And this isn't even the end to the Super Dungeon Explore Saga...

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.9

Getting close to the finish line, here's Ember Mage, one of the most famous SDE figures. It is a cute one. Note the bit of object source lighting I added on the staff.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.7

I'll just call this one Dragon Blade & Friends. From left to right: Von Wilder, Dragon Blade, Deeproot Wolf Rider, Ninja Candy and Thundervale Huntress!

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.6

Here we got two very different, but equally nice figures - Thundervale Huntress and Ninja Candy! (her little friend will be added later)

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.4

Proceeding with another fully armoured chap. This one also finally helped me figuring out how to paint a dude wearing pink plate armour painted in NMM style.

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.3

Two chaps I'd been looking forward to painting. The Scarecrow was just fun, the Legionnaire ...well, with all NMM painting it was interesting to paint. But rewarding!

Showcase: Super Dungeon Explore Pt.1

Back in 2016 (ha, remember the clothes we wore back then? It was cray-zee!) I worked on a rather big Super Dungeon Explore project.

Super Dungeon Explore was released a few years ago as a dungeon crawler game with a unique spin: The figures are all designed in a chibi/super deformed / slightly 8-bit RPG inspired way, leading to a then very unique look.

Above you can see the first few models I painted for this collection. The models look amazing, but require quite a different approach to painitng altogether. Very different, very interesting and rewarding to work on.

Showcase: Star Wars Alliance Smugglers

...and the last models for this batch, previously unpictured. It's two Alliance Smugglers. Somehow these ended up being amongst my favourites in this batch. They're just kinda cool. :D

I hope you made it well into 2017!
